(Port Chicago, California: Richard Schlesinger) Attempt to clear the names of 50 African-American sailors charged with mutiny after the World War II explosion at the Port Chicago, California, naval shipyard featured; scenes shown of the explosion aftermath and the Navy's reenactment. [Court-martialed sailor Fred MEEKS - talks about catching loose bombs coming from ships, the explosion, and the court-martial.] The racial aspect of the court-martial and the 1993 Navy report downplaying race recalled. [Representative George MILLER - says the black sailors' lives were viewed as less valuable.]
