(Studio) Secretary of State William Rogers urges ratification of nuclear nonproliferation treaty to the Senator For. Relations Committee anti-ballistic missile system discussed at meeting

(DC) Some Senators said article 6 of treaty would commit United States to arms control talks with USSR . Senator William Fulbright contends treaty prohibits escalation of arms race. [FULBRIGHT - feels if treaty ratified, anti-ballistic missile might be dropped. [ROGERS - thinks arms race should be limited.] [FULBRIGHT - inconsistency with limiting arms race and continuing with ABM.] [ROGERS - feels ought to ratify treaty and hope for further arms reductions.] [Senator Karl MUNDT - hopes administration presses to work out nuclear disarmament.]
