(Studio) FTC (Federal Trade Commission) tentatively accepts consent agreement in which funeral home chain, Service Corporation International, refunds $100,000 to customers it overcharged. FTC (Federal Trade Commission) to bring industry under federal supervision.

(DC) 22,000 funeral homes to take in $2 billion this year at average price of $1,200 per funeral. FTC (Federal Trade Commission) says no price competition and some practices take advantage of bereaved clients. [FTC J. Thomas ROSCH - uncovered practice of moving consumer to top of price range. Consumer must shop on take-it-or-leave-it practice.] [President National Funeral Dirs.
