(Studio) Outbreak of Saint Louis strain of encephalitis reaches epidemic stage in Illinois.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner
(Chicago, Illinois) Pools of stagnant water being sprayed for mosquitoes 37 cases isolated; 3 died recently. [Illinois Public Health Department Dr. Joyce LASHOF - reports outbreak.] 31 died in Mississippi. Mass mosquito spraying occurs. Disease detected in Tennessee, Alabama, LA, IN. Young and those over 50 very susceptible.
