(Studio) Details of Patricia Hearst's kidnapping by Symbionese Liberation Army reviewed. Cinque, William Harris, Emily Harris recalled. Hearst's life as fugitive with SLA outlined. Patty Hearst captured in September 1975; convicted of bank robbery; still faces other charges of robbery and kidnapping. Tonight, however, Patricia Hearst free on bail.

(San Francisco, California) [Patty's attorney Albert JOHNSON - says Judge William Orrick ordered release of Patty on bail pending appeal of case.] Earlier in morning, Miss Hearst removed from Federal Correctional Facility in San Diego. Judge Orrick granted request for her release but denied request for new trial. [JOHNSON - urges reporters not to ask Patty questions but says she'll make statement.] [HEARST - says she would feel better if she were home and would like to get details with regard to bail worked out so she can get home.] Elaborate security precautions taken to keep Miss Hearst in seclusion at parents' home.

(Studio) Interview with attorney Al Johnson follows. Johnson questioned about Patty's mood. [JOHNSON - says Patty happy to be with family. Grateful to Judge Orrick for releasing her on bail.] Reporter asks attorney about public's reaction to Patty's release. Many to think she's off hook because of money in family. [JOHNSON - states law specifically says any prisoner may be released from federal prison pending appeal of case if prisoner not considered a high flight risk.] Reviews reason for Patty's release. Patty not released because of fear for her safety inside prison. [JOHNSON - says he appealed for bail on reasons of safety for Patty, but judge acted on law of bail pending appeal.] Asks about parents relationship with Pattorney [JOHNSON - says relationship with parents since her arrest in 1975 excellent.]
