(Studio) In Plains, Georgia, mood is ecstatic; Carter returns there, already preparing for transition of government
REPORTER: Barbara Walters

(Plains, Georgia) Carter speaks to crowd in Plains. [CARTER - says he appreciates Ford's call to him. Says President's statement today will make transition easier.] On return this morning, Carter, carrying daughter Amy, greeted by townspeople, include brother Billy and mother Lillian. [CARTER - comments on reaction to coming home. Tells crowd next 2 mos. will be spent preparing to be President of whom they can be proud.] Carter expected to vacation now, perhaps in Georgia or Caribbean.
