(Lima: Lucia Newman) The 16th day of the hostage crisis in the Japanese diplomatic compound in Lima, Peru, featured; details given of the request from Tupac Amaru for the international community to pressure Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori into releasing their imprisoned comrades. Announcement that the two generals in charge of state security, who are also hostages, have lost their jobs noted. [In address, FUJIMORI - (thru translator) speaks out against terrorism.] The concern that the hostage crisis is hurting Peru's international image, the view that the standoff is perhaps entering a more dangerous stage outlined and the likelihood of whether the government will use troops against the rebels discussed.
