(Americus, Georgia) Democratic governor of ME, Kenneth Curtis, visits Carter. [CURTIS - says speculation is accurate for his appointment as Democratic national chairperson] [CARTER - says jobs program under public works category would be advisable, but exact figure will not be disclosed until after next week's mtg.] [CARTER - resolves for New Yr. to do good job as President and to get along better with the press.] Carter's visit to Lillian Carter in hospital noted. [CARTER - says his mother's worried inauguration may be postponed because of her illness.]
