(Studio) Federal Election Commission (FEC) loses power to hand out matching president funds at midnight. Democratic national committee and 7 Democratic candidates ask deadline to be extended to April 21.

(DC) [Commission MBR. - makes motion.] [Chairperson Thomas CURTIS - calls for vote.] Federal Election Commission approved $1 million in matching political funds. [CURTIS - cites controversies with regard to Federal Election Commission legislature] Issues include whether corps. or unions can ask members for political gifts and how much of a veto Congress should have over FEC rules.
