(Studio) Texas voters can cross party lines in primary.
REPORTER: Steve Bell
(Houston, Texas) Many Democrats cross over and vote in Republican primary. Carter aided crossover by winning heavily in Pennsylvania. He's considered shoo-in over George Wallace and Senator Lloyd Bentsen. Ronald Reagan made effort to woo conservative Democrats Gap narrowed due to President Ford campaigning in Texas more than any other primary. Ford also appeals for Democrat votes. Reagan loss could prove fatal to his campaign.
