(Studio) Representative Wayne Hays admits having an affair with congress secretary, Elizabeth Ray.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith
(DC) Ray claimed she was hired for $14,000 just to be Hays' mistress. Hays confesses to House to having a relship. with Ray. Says Ray threatened suicide and blackmail when he told her of plans to remarry. He says she's seriously disturbed and their relations are over. Many House mbrs. applaud at end of Hays' speech. He may lose a lot of power.
