(Studio) Argentine-born mercenary, Gustave Grillo, blames American way of life for his part in Angola civil war. Grillo says 2 American defendants never fired a shot.

(Luanda, Angola) Prosecution wants to prove that being mercenary should be punishable by death. 2 American attys. defense 2 Americans Court refuses psychiatric exam. for Gary Acker. Prosecution admits Acker captured after 4 days in Angola and Vietnam veteran Dan. Gearhart caught after 3 days. Costas Georgiou, "Colonel Callan" was only defendant who seemed defiant. Georgiou accused of killing 1 of his own men and ordering execution of 13 others who refused to fight. General public kept away from trial. Trial expected to last 1 week
