(Los Angeles, California) Toxic gas released as flames destroy Van Nuys, California, swimming pool supply company 5000 residents of community evacuated. [Harold HAULBROOK - describes incident.] 50 persons hospitalized due to fumes. Culver City area of Los Angeles later hit by explosion of gasoline pipeline. 1 death, 14 injuries, massive fire result [WITNESS - describes experience.]
