(Studio) San Quentin prison officials experiment in rehabilitation. Convicts allowed to take regular jobs outside prison and commute.

(San Quentin Prison, San Francisco, California) Mat Zalek first prisoner to participate. Jailed for assault and robbery, Zalek due for parole. Program provides gradual progress back into normal society. He is gnl. maintenance man. Zalek quoted with regard to friendliness of other employees. [Matthew ZALEK - believes program successful. Believes he has changed.] Going back to prison at night is hard.
