(Studio) All Americans allowed to leave Czechoslovakia. Report from Czech - West German border.
REPORTER: David Brinkley

(Waidhaus, West Germany) Flag-raising ceremony held in defiance of Soviets and memorial to victims of intervention. Czech flag flies at 1/2 mast. 1,000s of Americans there. [Shirley Temple BLACK - says good to be out. Saw many Czechs crying and military equipment.] [American Mary NEMEC - says everyone moving around crying. Everything closed but bakeries.] [GIRL - says they said to go home and tell everyone because all they could do was cry.] [NEMEC - tells of shooting last night and today. Soldiers were Soviets, E. Germans, Hungarians, Orientals and others. We'll kiss American soil. Happy to be out.] Czech border guard tries to escape, but not allowed to.
