(Studio) In December 1960, 900 men in Vietnam. Rose to 538,900 in June 1969. Fell to 472,500 today; 434,000 by April, 1970.

(Studio) President Nixon withdrawn 110,000 by end of 1970; 11,000 per month President Nixon quoted British guerrilla warfare expert, Sir Robert Thompson, as cautiously optimistic. In London, Thompson says American and South Vietnam have upper hand on military side, but either side could win. Infiltration up 5-10 but lower than 1968.
