(Studio) United States Navy evacuates 309 from Beirut to Athens.

(Beirut, Lebanon) Evacuation goes smoothly. Palestinians stand guard; some carry flowers in their rifle barrels. Air Force plane relays messages from US embassy to USS Coronado. 200 Americans decided not to go. United States special envoy Talcott Seelye also leaves; he's scheduled to return after talks in DC. President Ford thanks Navy and Palestinians. 2000 Americans with dual passports still in Lebanon.
