(Studio) President Ford's campaign organization says Ronald Reagan's Vice President choice of Senator Richard Schweiker will cost him votes at Republican convention Reagan forces contend the opposite.

(Mississippi) Mississippi Republican chairperson Clarke Reed polls Mississippi delegates. White House says Reed would throw support to Ford by 4 p.m.; he did not. Ford campaign coordinator, Doug Shanks, says he liked what he heard from Reed. [Party chairperson-elect and Reagan supporter Charles PICKERING - feels Mississippi delegation will remain uncommitted until it gets to Kansas City.] [SHANKS - says will be greatest selling job ever if Reagan convinces Mississippi delegates he and Schweiker are attuned to the issues.] [Reagan Mississippi chairperson W.D. "Billy" MOUNGER - says Reagan and Schweiker to meet Wednesday with Mississippi delegates.]

(DC) Republican presidential campaign is unclear. [SCHWEIKER - sees shift to Reagan from Pennsylvania delegates.] Reagan delegates still support Reagan in OK, UT, WA, SC and LA. Delegates not legally bound to Reagan in these states. Chairperson Texas delegation, Ray Barnhart, received call from Schweiker; Texas still considered for Reagan. Reagan counts on Schweiker for 30 N.E. votes. Secret Reagan supporters are supposed to be public by then.
