(Studio) Confusion about inflation, wage increases, tax loopholes and high interest rates. Report on Congress tax argument.

(DC) Senate Democrats ask that President Nixon be called in Thailand to find out what he'll do about surtax. It will expire Thursday Democrats to extend it only with tax reforms added with Republican help. Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield says Democrats only willing to extend it to end of November. Democratic Policy and Finance Committee vote to connect extension to drive for tax reform. Senator Everett Dirksen hints at compromise. Some Democrats to vote for surtax, so President Nixon can't accuse them of inflation.
