(Studio) District Attorney Edward Dinis requests inquest into Mary Jo Kopechne's death. Sen Edward Kennedy returns to Senator for 1st time since auto accident.

(DC) Kennedy says he intended to complete full Senator term, if reelected. Says no further clarification of accident. [KENNEDY - says answered questions to best of ability.] Senator Edmund Muskie says nothing irrevocable in pols. Senator Mike Mansfield tells Ted Kennedy that he's back where he belongs. Colleagues, incling. Senators Everett Dirksen and John Stennis shake Ted Kennedy's hand. Ted Kennedy seems subdued.
