(Studio) At rally in Panama City, Panama, General Omar Torrijos Herrera says Panamanians will die for control of Panama Canal, Central America.

(Panama, Central America) Govt. tries to defuse huge rally by giving it festive air. Plans to give out 100,000 commemorative machetes deferred. Torrijos speaks at 3rd anniversary of military coup that brought him to power. General told crowd not to go to canal today; tells them to see if US-Panama talks work out.
