(NYC) Representative Richard H. Poff withdrew name due to promised fight over his past history of not voting for civil rights bill. "Village Voice" says liberals may have jumped the gun too soon. List of liberal items he supported given. Liberals, Representatives Emanuel Celler and William M. McCulloch supported him. Liberals knew nothing about him; voted him out, though he was sorry for civil rights record. Pressure pols. worked badly here.
