(Studio) New California aqueduct to run from Lake Oroville in North to Lake Perris in South Key pumping station starts.

(California) South California has people; North California has water. Aqueduct runs 600 mile through mt. range to Los Angeles. Governor Ronald West Reagan opens pumping station Ralph Nader calls plan boondoggle. Some fear ecology damage. [REAGAN - says project is enduring monument to taming elements.] He starts motor. 6 mos. before Los Angeles can use water.
