(S. California) Amtrak goal is better service, not enough passengers. [Amtrak pres. Roger LEWIS - says cost twice the revenue.] June, 1973, deadline set by Congress for Amtrak to do well. Problems cited. Broadway Limited featured. Employees promote Amtrak. [PASSENGERS - comment re: improvements.] Food good, prices reasonable but train slow. Auto biggest competitor. Success of Amtrak doubtful.
