(Studio) Candidates in presidential campaign make stops in several states today. Jimmy Carter begins fall campaign officially in Warm Springs, Georgia.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner

(Norfolk, Virginia) Carter's speech at Warm Springs concerned with kind of leadership Democratic candidates can give. [CARTER - says when Truman was in office he was captain of ship; now apparently no one in charge or responsible.] Both Carter and Senator Robert Dole make appearances at Darlington, SC, stock car races. Carter activities at track noted. After races in SC, Carter goes to Virginia; is greeted by Democratic Senator candidate, Admiral (ret.) Elmo Zumwalt. Carter running hard as if underdog but also acting confident of win. (Audio quality poor through 5:01:40 due broadcast technology difficulties)
