(Studio) Detroit homicides incring. sharply.

(Detroit, Michigan) 209 homicides in Detroit since beginning of year, up 65% from 1st 3 mos. of last year [Police Commissioner John NICHOLS - thinks increase sign of times; in response to reporter question, says 2 or 3 murders have been assassinations related to narcotics.] 1,000 policemen added to force in last 2 years [Mayor Roman GRIBBS - says in over 75% of 100 homicides, people knew each other; if guns hadn't been available, killings might have been just fist fights.] 75% homicides resulted in arrests.
