(Studio) 3 drill instructors relieved of duties for over exercising marine recruits on Parris Island
REPORTER: Edwin Newman

(Parris Island, SC) 39 recruits in hospital suffering from muscle and kidney ailments from too many push ups. Drill instructor, sergeant W. L. Sutton considered most responsible for recruits' abuse. [Major General Carl HOFFMAN - believes must maintain tough training program to keep turning out good marines.] Some of 39 over exercised recruits may have permanent muscle damage.
