(Studio) School in Florida uses new device to make students more interested in school.
REPORTER: Garrick Utley
(Tampa, Florida) Carver Elementary School gives 6th graders play money pay checks for completing classroom assignments. Students' pay depends on amount of work done. Once a week auction held to sell toys to be bought with play money. [Teacher Becky SHAMBLIN - says trying to teach individuality and responsibility.] [Teacher Jane SWINNEY - says traditional school methods not interesting to children.] Students work mostly on own. No lessons given to group as a whole.
