New York, Florida, and North Carolina pass envtl. protection measures. Michigan and South Dakota reject more liberal abortion laws. Colorado, MD, WA, Texas, NM, Hawaii guarantee equal rights for women. MD, Colorado approve state lotteries. California rejects more liberal marijuana laws, stricter pornography laws, ban on union boycotts.
