(Studio) Admin. says it will do everything necessary to stop supply of war ntls. to North Vietnam. Defense Secretary Melvin Laird indicates ships entering North Vietnam waters could be subject to attack; planes shot down.

(Pentagon) [LAIRD - calls for American unity in crisis. Says no evidence of Russian mine sweepers in harbors. Some Russian ships have changed course. Ships in port show no major nvt. out, others don't move in. Says US will take necessary action to prevent delivery in North Vietnam of supplies useable in their military aggression in S.E. Asia.] No one certain what will happen tomorrow when nines activated.
