(Studio) President Nixon sends personal physician, extra Secret Service agents to hospital, on learning Wallace had been shot. Nixon calls Mrs. Wallace at hospital. Deplores senseless and tragic incident. Senator George McGovern suspends campaigning, says hatred and bullets have no place in society of free men and women. Senator Hubert Humphrey visits hospital.

(Silver Spring, MD) Humphrey seen entering hospital. Wallace brought to special emergency room at Holy Cross Hospital where 4 doctors examine him. 3 bullets found: in arm, chest, and stomach. Spinal-column complications possible.
