(Vatican City, Italy) Laslo Toth, Hungarian who immigrated to Australia, held by Rome police for attacking statue with sledge hammer. Virgin's left arm knocked off, hand broken, nose and 1 eye smashed. Pope Paul inspects damage. Arm and hand may be repaired, but face may not be successfully restored.
