(Miami Beach, Florida) [McGovern campaign manager, Frank MANKIEWICZ - says Eagleton chosen because he will complement ticket and would make good President should occasion arise.] [EAGLETON - describes telephone invitation.] Senators Edward Kennedy, Abraham Ribicoff refused Vice President bid. Others were considered: Wisconsin Governor Lucey, Sargent Shriver, etc. Eagleton not well known now, but will be.
