(Studio) Senator George McGovern appeared on national television to try to explain some of his controversial statements, include that be wouldn't support the Democratic nomination if he was denied it by unfair means.

(DC) McGovern appeared on ABC's "Issues and Answers" program. [MCGOVERN - says he's fully confident Democratic Convention will be a good, fair one. If process fair, he'll back nomination of Democratic party] Whether the convention is fair or not may depend on whether he gets back his California delegates.

(DC) California Democratic national cmtemen. announced new legal effort to regain lost McGovern delegates [Stephen REINHARDT - wants delegates to have full participation in the convention and to have their rights determined as quickly as possible.] McGovern approves legal action.
