(Studio) Fighting for Quang Tri city continues.
REPORTER: John Chancellor
(Quang Tri, South Vietnam) Ferocity of fighting earns battle nickname "meat grinder". Both sides use tanks. Air cover exclusively by South Vietnam pilots. There are some civilians left, and they flee when they get a chance. (Highway 1) Enemy troops attempt to cut road to trap South Vietnam paratroopers inside Quang Tri. American air strikes called in. Tanks and infantry move in to sweep out area, keeping supply route open.
