REPORTER: Edwin Newman
(Griffin, IN) Shoulders of all rds. leading to Island, include I-65, jammed with cars. Scalpers charge $25 for entrance to concert. Only road built 1 week before to haul timber. Young people swim in River, attracting sightseers. (Bull Island, IN) Officials get injunctions to stop concert at area raceway, so sponsors buy Island Water, outdoor privies lacking. Promoters face fines. Music late in starting, drugs abound (some laced with strychnine). Food and fresh water at premium. Fans say festival poorly organization; promoters blame it on court battles to stop it.
