(Cairo, Egypt) Details of activities of Israeli delegation and of President Sadat during day given; Sadat's posing for photographs in front of the Sphinx, for American magazine, noted. Israelis' visit to pyramids cited; reporter Doreen Kays questions leader Eliahu Ben-Elissar about tourism between Egypt and Israel. [BEN-ELISSAR - thinks and hopes there will be many more Israeli tourists at pyramids.] Supposed schedule for conference for next 3 days, while awaiting word of Begin-Carter talks in DC, outlined; reporter mentions next 3 days are Moslem, Jewish and Christian sabbaths.

(DC) [CARTER - has no idea what Begin will say, but they'll meet privately at Begin's request. Describes how he'll react, depending on Begin's proposals to be given to Sadat. Says he's not ultimate judge of acceptance of proposals to Egyptians.] president's shift in position re: militant Arabs and PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) noted. [CARTER - thinks by its negative actions, PLO has removed self from immediate prospect of participation in peace discussion.] Secretary of State Vance's return from Mideast trip and reporter John Scali's statement with regard to information Vance will have for Carter noted.
