Reason behind request involves 2 FBI agents caught in closet with phone equipment beside defense attys.' conference room. Gainesville group charged with plotting to disrupt Democrat and Republican conventions in 1972.

(Gainesville, Florida) Agents say they were conducting routine surveillance of phones to make sure no wiretaps present. Agents say they didn't overhear any defense attys.' conversation intentionally or unintentionally. [Defendant Peter MAHONEY - disbelieves FBI story with sarcasm directed at burglars in Watergate.] Defendant William Patterson requests Judge William Arnow delay trial until hearing on FBI matter conducted and asks that Senate Watergate committee intervene in Gainesville 8 trial. Judge Arnow denies motions. Defendants suspect government to convict them regardless of innocence.
