(Studio) Mexico President Jose Lopez Portillo arrives today for state visit with President Carter; Canada Prime Min. Pierre Trudeau to visit next week

(DC) At White House Carter speaks in English, Lopez Portillo in Spanish. [CARTER - says he pledges to go further than diplomatic courtesy to work with Lopez portillo.] [LOPEZ PORTILLO - (thru translator) says he's convinced if conversations done in framework of good faith, problems can be solved.] 2 don't mention any subjects expected to be topics of discussions until in private. Details with regard to dinner noted; Amy Carter to sit at head table and entertainment to be by pianist Rudolf Serkin, who'll be joined by guest pianist, Lopez Portillo's wife, Carmen.
