(Studio) House Judiciary Committee decides not to open questioning of impeachment witnesses to public. Chairperson Peter Rodino decides to call 6 witnesses requested by President' attorney James Saint Clair.

(DC) Rodino tries to change rules with regard to questioning of witnesses. House speaker Carl Albert for rule change; Representative David Dennis against it. Representative Edward Hutchinson also sides with Rodino, but his resolution defeated. Representative Jerome Waldie presents argument to keep hearings closed; Representative Robert McClory disagrees. Mbrs. of committee react to recent votes in House committee Alexander Butterfield to be 1st witness.
