(Studio) Safety of Boeing 747 jets noted; worst disasters till Sunday had been burning of 1 by Palestinians in Cairo, Egypt, airport and 76 deaths in 2 crashes. But avs. caught up and at least 578 dead in ground crash of Pan American and KML Royal Dutch jets on Tenerife in Canary Island Planes had been diverted from Las Palmas due to earlier bombing on island Pan American's passengers mostly from Los Angeles, California, and bound for Mediterranean cruise; both were charter jets with vacationers on board. (Spanish TV film shown.) Mrs. Floy Heck of Laguna Hills, California, is survivor. [HECK - describes escape.] Investigation begins today.
