(Studio) Federal government to regulate private pension plans of 30 million Americans President Ford signs Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
REPORTER: John Chancellor

(DC) Ford signs 387 page bill in Rose Garden before 200 guests. [FORD - speaks of security bill will bring.] Bill sets up government insurance plan to pay workers up to $750 month in case employer goes out of business or pension plan fails. All workers 25, with 1 year's work, must be allowed to join company pension plan. Ford flies back to Camp David.
