(Studio) Defense Secretary designate, Don. Rumsfeld, tells Senator Armed Services Committee he stands with Ford with regard to strong national defense

(DC) [Senator Henry JACKSON - suggests Rumsfeld wants Vice President post.] [RUMSFELD - says not running for anything. Will serve for as long as Ford wants him.] [JACKSON - asks if Rumsfeld will reject Vice President possibility.] [RUMSFELD - says presumptuous to take self out of consideration for post not being considered for.] [JACKSON - asked if Rumsfeld involved with Schlesinger's firing.] [RUMSFELD - says knows Jim Schlesinger and admires him; nothing to do with his departure.] Rumsfeld expected to be approved.
