(Studio) 1 question for President Carter on Saturday was from Mrs. Ruby Hewitt of San Bernardino, California, who asked why people on Social Security get only 1 cost of living adjustment per year and government retirees get 2. Carter said he'd check it and call back. Today he does.

(San Bernardino, California) [Ruby HEWITT - answers phone.] [WOMAN - tells Hewitt President calls.] [CARTER - asks Hewitt how she is; says he's got answer to question.] Reporter gives Carter's explanation. [CARTER - says matter being investigated as part of look at Social Security system.] Hewitt tells President her sister lives in Georgia. [HEWITT - tells Carter ABC, CBS, NBC, Associated Press and local newspaper are recording call. Seas love to Carter family and Miss Lillian.] [CARTER - tells her to have nice day.] Hewitt from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, same hometown as late Martha Mitchell.
