(Studio) CIA tested drugs from 1953-63. CIA worked with old narcotics bureau and people involved not told what was happening.
REPORTER: John Chancellor

(DC) Hd. of CIA science and technology department, Carl Duckett, says no full details because records of tests destroyed, apparently at request of ex-CIA Director Richard Helms. [DUCKETT - says there was apt. equipped for running these experiments.] [Chairperson subcommittee on health Senator Edward KENNEDY - asks what is meant by descriptions of social levels of those who visited location.] [DUCKETT - says some of testing done on those who were used to drugs. Their reactions tested with those of senior official.] 2 ex-bureau spokesperson denied reports 1 confirmed existence of apt. and said CIA put up money.
