(Studio) Israel won't take part in United Nations Security Council's January debate on Mideast. Council voted to let PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) participate. United States voted to go along.

(DC) State Department says resolution so watered down that it didn't mean anything and veto could have caused rejection of United Nations peace-keeping forces' mandate extension. Security Council can debate what it wishes with whom it wishes. Felt Israel overreacting.
