(Studio) Last night in Shelton, Connecticut, 3 men kidnap 3 guards on duty at rubber factory. Little later kidnappers return and blow up plant.

(Shelton, Connecticut) 24 fire companies join Shelton's force to try and put out blaze. At midday, firemen still hosing down embers; building totally destroyed. [Fire chief LeRoy BRAINARD - says 1000 people to be affected by plant destruction.] Guards released following explosion; men told guards they were members of Weather Underground, militant radical group. Loss of plant means loss of at least 400 jobs.
