(Studio) Astronaut Don. "Deke" Slayton undergoes surgery. Tumor benign.

(Houston, Texas) Slayton 1 of original 7 astronauts picked in 1959. (Film shown of Slayton's career.) Grounded in 1961 for irregular heartbeat. Allowed to go on Apollo-Soyuz flight. [Surgeon Dr. Charles BERRY - says Slatyon awake and doing well. He'll stay in hospital 10-12 days. Expect him returned to flight status.] Slayton says "good" at news.
