(Studio) Ford administration announces limited production of B-1 bomber through June, by which time Carter must decide whether to continue production or not.
REPORTER: John Chancellor

(DC) (Defense Department film shown.) President Ford has favored bomber; Carter opposed it. Air Force Secretary Thomas Reed today says decision won't make it more difficult for Carter administration to stop program and says it's irresponsible not to move ahead with it. [REED - says he can't imagine succeeding Secys. of Defense or Air Force not concluding need for some B-1 bombers to keep up with USSR .] Comments with regard to announcements from B-1 opponent Senator William Proxmire noted.
