(Beirut, Lebanon) Moslem deserters from army are led by Lieutenant Abmed al-Khatib. Rebel unit moves 7 mile from president palace. They and regular armed forces join together. Syrian-controlled Palestinian troops block route of 1 unit. Syria doesn't want renewed fighting. Fighting flares up in hotel district.
